Selected projects from environments where networks have to carry around the clock.

Cruise ship at sea
Cruise industry

Campus network on a cruise ship

Support for building a complete campus network on board – from access layer planning through Wi-Fi to ship-wide VoIP telephony.

  • 25,000+access ports
  • 2,000+access switches
  • 3,000+access points
  • 5,000+VoIP phones
Mobile network mast for LTE connectivity
KRITIS · Energy

LTE in process control systems

Migration of layer 2 backup paths (ISDN) to LTE technology in process control environments at operators of critical infrastructure (KRITIS).

Focus areas: availability of backup paths, securing the transmission links and a migration path without interrupting live operation.

Schematic of an Ansible network deployment
Automation

Network deployment with Ansible

Network configurations are generated and rolled out via Ansible instead of configuring devices one by one. The result: reproducible, version-controlled configurations and significantly shorter rollout times.

Automation

Network automation with NetBox and Ansible

Network automation using the open source tools NetBox and Ansible: you plan your infrastructure in NetBox – devices, IP addresses, VLANs and sites – and automate the network deployment from it.

Ansible reads that data over the REST API as a dynamic inventory, renders the configuration through Jinja2 templates and rolls it out. Access switches and access points can be provisioned consistently and with little effort, even in large quantities.

Flow diagram: NetBox as the source of truth supplies devices, IP addresses, VLANs and sites to Ansible over the REST API. Ansible turns that into configuration via dynamic inventory and Jinja2 templates and deploys it over SSH or NETCONF to access switches, access points and routers or firewalls. The actual state is reported back to NetBox.
